FRIENDS OF THE NEWTON COUNTY LIBRARY

The    Friends    is    an organization that works for the good of the library and to promote reading and learning in the County.  We elect our own officers and work with the Newton County Library Board, which administers this public library.

The Friends meet at 12:00 noon, the second Monday each month or as announced in the Newton County Times.   During these meetings, we plan events such as fund raising booths at   community   activities, dinners with silent auctions, great   musical benefits, famous guest programs, and summer children's events.  Popular annual events include the April Fools Dinner, Plant Sale and Tea, Watermelon Festival and Seed Spitting Contest and the Beckham Cave Tour, Dinner and Silent Auction.  Members are strongly urged to attend these meetings.  Guests and visitors are always welcome also.

Membership in the Friends is renewed annually and ranges from $5.00 per individual to $10.00 for a family to the lifetime membership of $100. The Friends always welcome new faces..  A membership application is attached for those interested in joining Friends of the Library.
